counsellor wimbledon #01Our aim is to help our clients:

  • Gain insight into their difficulties or distress.
  • Establish greater understanding of their motivation.
  • Understand their historical patterns of behaviour which may no longer work.
  • Enable them to find more appropriate ways of coping or to bring about changes in thinking, responses and actions.
Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and relevant events, sometimes from childhood and personal history. This is done in a structured way with someone trained to help you do it safely.

Depending on the nature of your problem, therapy can be short or long term. Counselling/psychotherapy is not a magical cure. It is a process to help you find the capacity for improvement within yourself.

Counselling for individuals

Counselling/psychotherapy is something that people understandably turn to in times of distress, however, it is not just about dealing with crises, or putting out fires.

counselling clapham #02Counselling/psychotherapy has the powerful potential to enable you to be the person you want to be, to live a more fulfilling life with better quality relationships and to liberate your full potential.

Gaining insight and awareness into who you are now and an understanding of what shaped who you are, are part of the process often described as personal growth or personal development.

These are not easy concepts to put into words because words can be quite crude tools for describing the world of our emotions and feelings.

To get an insight into how Counselling/Psychotherapy works you could read our friend and colleague Philippa Perry’s Book ‘Couch Fiction’.

Counselling for couples

All relationships go through difficult times - it's how we handle those times that makes the difference between staying together and splitting up. Contact either Allan or Lizzie to see how couples' counselling could benefit your relationship.
